To promote concurrent nominations to both the FIRST Awards and the TCCB-ED Teacher of the Year Award, their nomination form is included below.
Here are general TCCB-ED guidelines and submission deadlines:
The TCCB ED created the Teacher of the Year Award to honor teachers who have made a lasting impact on Catholic education in their school.- Awards will be given to one elementary/middle school (PK3-8) and one high school (9-12) teacher.
- Parents, teachers, staff, and clergy may nominate candidates. Include a testimony from either a colleague, administrator, parent, or student.
- Nomination must include a high-resolution (at least 300 dpi) photo of the nominee.
- Incomplete nomination forms WILL NOT be considered.
- Nominations must be submitted to the superintendent by 5:00pm on Friday, November 20, 2026, and submitted to TCCB ED by the superintendent by 5:00pm on Friday, December 18, 2026.
- Winners will receive $250, a signature trophy, a feature spot on the TCCB ED website, and news release to Catholic newspapers.
Nominees must be teachers who:- have a minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience in a Catholic school, 2 of which must be in the school in which he or she is currently serving.
- instill in students a desire to learn and achieve.
- understand the individual needs of students, encourage their talents, and foster their self-esteem.
- demonstrate a thorough knowledge of their subject matter and the ability to share it effectively with students.
- foster cooperative relationships with their colleagues and community.
- demonstrate outstanding leadership.
Each superintendent will select one elementary/middle school nominee and one high school nominee out of the submissions in their (arch)diocese. A selection committee from the TCCB Accreditation Commission will review nominations and scoring will be based on a standardized rubric.
Award recipients will be notified Friday, January 9, 2027, and formally announced during Catholic Schools Week.
